Security is mostly a superstition

Security is mostly a superstition.  It does not exist in nature…

Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.

~ Helen Keller

The quote we are most familiar with by Heller Keller is usually the second line. I appreciate the first line because it brings a broader context to the second.  Money, by many studies and vast majorities, is what people identify to feel secure. In fact, if you substitute money for "security" above or even in many writings you'd create true statements from a different view.

How does a person create enough safety in his or her life such that he or she can then embrace the daring adventure?

There are two areas one must explore in order to be ready to embark on the life adventure. The first area is what most people consider when they face their finances and security. How much money do I need to earn to live today comfortably? How much money do I need to save today so that I can live comfortably tomorrow? Where do I invest my savings? Is my spending  aligned with my values? If I am not sourcing enough income, where can I decrease my spending? These are some of the practical questions that help a person to ground in the practical matters of cash flow, saving, investing and "retirement".  I also highly recommend creating intentions and visualizing what you want to manifest in your financial wealth. But some people believe this is what is meant by the practical side of money. This is not so. You must also face the gross realm of the practical. Do not mistaken intentions, visualizing, clearing energy as the same as specific tangible actions that are required to live in this world at this day and time.  There is a momentum to the now and this reality which must be respected; you cannot ignore the now as you visualize; you must take care of the now as you visualize.

The second area one must explore to be ready to embrace that adventure is journeying inside. What's going on inside of me?  Do I feel  secure? Ask curious and powerful questions that impact you and change you. The questions that really cut to what creates safety for you. Start by asking, what is security? How do I know if I am secure? Does my bank account tell me? Do my senses tell me? Where do I source safety?   Yes ultimately security is sourced on the interior, but until one achieves that ultimate truth, the exterior aspects of money and security must be attended to along with the interior exploration.

What are you waiting for?  Life is not a spectator sport?  You have choices.  You either are making conscious decisions or are letting something outside of you decide for you.

Consider this year as the year you will take a wider perspective on money. Look at both the interior journey that opens your heart, mind and soul; and look at the exterior matter that calls for our attention and growth and impact.
